Planning is now underway for the Fall confirmation class of 2010!   We need your help to get ready.  

 

For Youth— 

 

What should you do if you are interested?

 

1) Call and notify Jeremy Absher, if you can make the commitment to be a part of this confirmation journey.  

2) Free your calendar for the dates and times of confirmation included in the calendars provided.  The first class begins on Sunday,  September 19, 2010 from 3:00-4:00 pm. 

3) Select three adult members of the congregation who you would like to serve as your confirmation mentor (Note: You may not receive the adults you select, but we will try!   If you want to contact potential mentors in advance, you may.)  We try not to use parents or close relatives as mentors just because it helps for Confirmands not to feel too much pressure in making their own faith decisions.   I need to have your mentor requests no later than Wednesday Sept. 8!  (Mentor training is Sunday, Sept. 12).

 

For Parents—

 

 What should you do?

 

1) Talk to your youth about the importance of confirmation and how confirmation is a time when they are asked to make their own decision to follow Jesus Christ.

2) Free your calendars for the Parent Meeting on Wednesday, September 15 from 6:30-7:15 p.m. in the chapel.

3) Support your youth emotionally by talking with them about confirmation, spiritually by praying for them, and physically by providing transportation to every session.   Talk with them about how the confirmation class is going and what they are getting out it.
